‘Skate A Mile In My Sledge’ Contest Opens To Students

Students are being challenged to ‘Skate a mile in my sledge.’

The contest is being offered by the local organizing committee for the World Sledge Hockey Challenge.

It asks students to create a poem, essay, video or poster about diversity or disabilities.

Coordinator Bernice Theriault says they are trying to embrace the event.

“It’s a world class event coming to rural Nova Scotia, we don’t get these very often and we’re very excited about the opportunity.”

The contest is open to all students in the South Shore Regional School Board.

The deadline is the first week of January.

The winner will have a class trip to a sledge hockey game and will be recognized in the tournament’s official program.
