The number of people in Digby is about to explode.
Organizers the 2017 Wharf Ray Rally is expected to bring 20 thousand people to the town of just over 2-thousand.
This is the 12th year for the rally. It takes place August 30th to Sept 3.
The economic impact reaches far beyond the Digby area.
Rally vice-chair John Bartlett says an economic impact study done in 2011 proved that.
“It was $8.9 million to the local economy and that’s over just five days. As near as we can tell we are the 5th largest event or festival in nova Scotia.”
The 2011 study said spending associated with the rally supported $3 million in wages and salaries and tax revenues produced by the event totaled $1.9 million.
