RCMP In The Clear After Man Injured During Arrest

The province’s Serious Incident Response Team says there is no call for charges against two Lunenburg RCMP officers.

SIRT was investigating after a man fractured his elbow during an arrest in Pleasantville on June 3.

A woman dialled 9-1-1 to say her father may be suicidal and could injure himself with a knife.

Officers arrived on scene and tried to calm the man but he became agitated and moved aggressively toward them, challenging them to fight.

He was injured when he fell to the ground after being subdued by a conducted energy weapon.

Several eyewitnesses and police dash cam video confirm the sequence of events.

SIRT says the man was physically imposing at 6’3″ tall and weighing 390 pounds, and the officers could reasonably believe the confrontation was about to become physical.
