The 55-plus games are coming to Lunenburg County in less than a month and there are a record number of participants.
A member of the organizing committee, Carroll Randall, says it’s great news.
“We are right around the 800 mark. They had 740-something last year. That’s the highest that’s ever happened.”
The games will be played all over the South Shore at venues such as Queens Place Emera Centre, Michelin Social Club, and the Pine Grove horseshoe pits.
This year’s games include golf, pickleball and scrabble to name a few.
The games happen from September 13-16 and will take place rain or shine.
Randall says they are still looking to meet their fundraising goal.
He says they’re close to their target.
“If we had another $5,000 we would be in real good shape but we still have several asks out and we’re getting very close to being break even or better.”
Randall also notes they are in need of at least 50 more volunteers.
