NSCC Lunenburg Students, Staff Raise $1,100 For Movember

A variety of moustaches were on display as NSCC staff and students celebrated the closing of Movember.

Nineteen people at the Lunenburg campus helped raise $1,132 for men’s health.

This is the campuses seventh year participating.

One of the organizers, Jeremy Porter, says people are generous and support the cause.

“For a small campus of 450 students and about 60 staff we’ve beat all the other NSCC campuses, which are triple our size.”

A variety of fundraisers were held including a bake sale and silent auction.

The campus has won the ‘Moustache Cup’ as the top NSCC fundraiser.

VP of services for the student association, Vanda Stevens, says there is a sense of pride.

“I think that our Movember cup winning has kind of set a legacy. It allows students to be engaged and look forward to it because we always want to get the cup back.”

A community challenge could be in the works for next year’s event.
