Shelburne: Town Mayor Sets Financial Record Straight

The town of Shelburne’s mayor is standing behind their finances.

Karen Mattatall says the town has worked hard to improve their outlook by increasing its reserves and reducing debt.

Amalgamation has stalled between the municipality and town over financial concerns.

Mattatall says they have made strides to reduce their debt.

“It started at just over $700,000 and has been reduced to $233,000.”

The town has also doubled their reserve fund in the last five years to $760,000.

The tax rate has also not increased since 2010.

Mattatall says they continue using an asset management plan to address infrastructure in the town.
