PC’s Rushton Wins Cumberland South By-Election

Residents in Cumberland South will once again be represented by a Progressive Conservative.

The results of Tuesday night’s By-Election saw PC Candidate Tory Rushton with the majority of the votes at 3,417.

Rushton replaces former PC Leader Jamie Baillie, who abruptly resigned last fall.

Also in the running, were Liberal Candidate Scott Lockhart (1,829), Larry Duschene for the NDP (292) and Bruce W. McCulloch (235) representing the Green Party.

Despite the results, the Liberals will continue to hold a majority government as they currently have 27 of 51 seats.

The PC’s trail with 16 seats while the NDP hold 7 seats in the Legislature.
