The fate of some schools on the South Shore will soon be determined.
The Bridgewater and Park View families of schools along with Tancook Island Elementary School are currently under review.
Superintendent, Geoff Cainen says the governing board has some tough decisions to make but points to the importance of focusing on the kids.
“It’s my belief if we concentrate on what’s best for students from an educational perspective and not worry about the bricks and morter, we should be fine,” said Cainen.
The future of Pentz and Petite Riviere schools which were slated to close remains up in the air.
The Tancook Island Elementary School currently only has two students attending and they’re both graduating in the spring. There is only one student set to enrol in September 2016.
A school options committee will submit its report in the spring.
