Financial Boost for Michelin Athletics and Social Club

The Michelin Athletics and Social Club in Bridgewater will be able to continue it’s long time service to the community thanks to a $43,000 infusion from the Province.

Lunenburg West MLA, Mark Furey, says it’s all part of the $1.8 million dollar Nova Scotia Recreational Facility Development Grant Program.

He says it really boils down to health and wellness within the community.

“The Michelin Social Club has been contributing to recreational activities and healthy lifestyles since 1979,” says Furey. “The hard tile floor will be replaced with an athletic floor; a healthy lifestyle is a healthy mind and we know that challenges that we’re facing in the health sector and healthy lifestyles now will result in significant health care savings into the future.”

The grants are expected to help community groups and municipalities increase local participation in health and active living by providing the proper facilities to do so.
