Celebrating Beautiful Homes and Shipbuilding History in Mahone Bay

The South Shore is definitely a place full of historic homes, beautiful properties and stunning scenery and for the Town of Mahone Bay, that definitely rings true.

Every summer, people flock to the seaside port and take in the beauty of its historic homes and beautiful gardens and of that sounds like fun, then you’ll want to head to Mahone Bay this weekend for the Mahone Museum’s Annual Home & Garden Tour.

But it’s more than just gardens and homes.

The museum will also pay tribute to the Town’s long history of boat and ship building through a live demonstration out side the museum.

Volunteers from the Boatyard Co-op will be constructing a traditional 15 foot Mushmush rowing skiff using traditional tools and materials.

“We have a shipbuilding exhibit inside so that will tie in really nicely; we know over five hundred ships have been built in Mahone Bay and those are just the ones that we can prove were built here,” says Lyne Allain, Manager and Curator at the Mahone Bay Museum.

The Home and Garden Tour runs from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday (July 7th & 8th, 2018).
