Fire crews are currently battling a blaze at the Kaizer Meadow Landfill and Public Drop-Off.
Residents within the Municipality of the District of Chester are being advised to stay away from the area until further notice.
Tammy Wilson, spokesperson for the Municipality of the District of Chester, says it began earlier this morning.
“We’re asking residents and contractors to avoid the area so pleas don’t come to the site to bring landfill or public drop-off material because we won’t be allowing access until we get the area secured and the fire taken care of so that we can re-open,” says Wilson.
Municipal officials tell Acadia News that the fire is currently under control but they do anticipate the landfill will remained closed for the remainder of the day.
Updates are being posted on the Municipality of the District of Chester‘s social media feeds and the website.
