The Hants East MLA was first elected to the legislature in 2013 and has served as deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
She worked in agriculture, forestry and small business and served as national president of MADD Canada.
The Nova Scotia Cabinet is now 16 members strong plus the premier.
A new deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly will be appointed in the near future.
