The committee formed to review the rules imposed on home-based businesses in Lunenburg.
The town’s mayor Rachel Bailey said the provincial government needs to work with them to improve on the current legislation.
“We are looking to partner with the Province and for them to take another look at what in their legislation might need to be changed,” said Bailey,
Bailey admits changes can be made to the building code to make it easier for home-based businesses to succeed in Lunenburg.
“However, we only have so much power. Much of the legislation is out of our jurisdiction,” said Bailey.
“When it comes to the application of the building code, there’s only so much leeway that we have.”
Bailey explained the goal of the committee is to make recommendations that will make it easier for exisiting home-based businesses in Lunenburg and support the development of new ones.
The committee is set to meet again in January.
