Queens Place Emera Centre Forecasting Deficit Near $600,000

The deficit appears to be on the rise for Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool.

It is forecast to be almost $593,000 by the end of March, a jump of more than $31,000.

Region of Queens Mayor Christopher Clarke says he’s concerned the deficit is creeping up.

“We realize that these facilities don’t break even, they always run deficits. But, you’ve got to control your costs, you’ve got to control your expenditures, you’ve got to control your deficit.”

He is challenging staff to try and find ways of reducing the deficit over the next four months.

If not, taxpayers in the Region of Queens could be on the hook.
