Construction on the new Gow’s Home Hardware and Furniture store on Dominion Street will go ahead.
At a special meeting Tuesday night, Bridgewater Town Council voted unanimously to uphold the Development Officer’s decision to approve the site plan application.
Residents can appeal the site plan as part of the approval process.
Maureen Rodenhizer lives adjacent to the construction site.
She appealed the permit because she felt the dust blowing onto her property would not allow her to go outside or even open a window.
Rodenhizer told council she wasn’t against the project but wanted better protection for her home while construction is underway.
She was disappointed as she left town hall and declined to comment.

Julie Gow of Gow’s Home Furniture feels the situation can be worked out.
“I think we’ll have a good relationship with our neighbours and they’ll all be happy to have us there. We hope to be able to work with the complainant about the building process and come to some agreement that can satisfy everyone.”
Gow says crews will get back to work almost immediately.
“We’re very happy that we’re going ahead with our project and we can commence building, hopefully by tomorrow morning.”
The site is being sprayed with water in an effort to reduce the dust according to Project Manager Phil Farrow.
He says they expect to pave the site in October and that will resolve the dust issues.
