She’s one of just three goaltenders to make the cut for Team Canada’s Under-18 Squad at the US-Canada Series taking place in Calgary, Alberta and she’s from Lunenburg, NS.
Speaking to CKBW and Country 100.7 from Calgary, 17-year-old Madison Beck describes the experience of donning the Team Canada Jersey for the first time.
“It was so incredible, I just couldn’t believe that this is finally happening, because this is something that I’ve wanted since I was eight years old, I have a list written in my room and that is at the top of my list is to play for Hockey Canada and I got to pull that jersey on a couple of days ago,” says an elated Beck.
Beck says she owes a lot to her brother, who she describes as her hockey hero.
She says before you can stop the goals, you have to set some goals, both big and small.
“I wanted to make Hockey Nova Scotia, so, how am I going to do that? I need to play well for the season, get invited to the tryout and then I have to work on all the little things so there’s always tiny little goals that you need to set in order to achieve what you really want,” notes Beck.
The US-Canada Series takes place in Calgary, AB from August 16th to the 19th, 2018 and is part of the Team Canada Summer Showcase.
