Local Municipalities Finding Holes In High Speed Internet Coverage

The municipalities of Lunenburg and Chester, along with the Region of Queens wants to hear about resident’s high-speed Internet.

The speed tests are an attempt to determine which areas need to be upgraded.

Queens Mayor David Dagley says getting accurate data will be helpful when applying for provincial and federal funding.

“Because Ottawa appears to assume in their previous research that we have faster speeds in the Region of Queens, in many areas, than we actually do.”

Dagley says they want to have hard data on hand to back-up their position when the time comes.

“We certainly know there’s going to be a program coming out of the province over the next six months and we expect that there will be a re-offering of additional money from Ottawa. We want to be prepared.”

Dagley says the program will run for the next five months or so.
