Prime Minister In Nova Scotia To Announce $119 Million In Spending

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in Nova Scotia Tuesday to announce a new deal between the federal government and the province on infrastructure projects.

The feds will spend just under $87 million dollars on water and wasterwater systems.

The Prime Minister made the announcement in Premier Stephen McNeil’s home riding of Bridgetown.

“These projects will upgrade water and wastewater systems in communities right across Nova Scotia. Places like Lunenburg, Fall River and right here in Bridgetown.”

Trudeau says $32 million will also be spent on public transit projects across the province.

He says government talked to people at a grass roots level to decide how best to invest in communities.

“We listen to Canadians about what’s needed to make our communities stronger and build a better future. So by working together as partners we’ve come up with real solutions.”

Trudeau says projects that are shovel ready will not have to wait.

The money is allocated from April 1st of this year so that projects won’t be delayed.
