Ten Nova Scotian lawyers have been appointed to the Queens Counsel.
Every year the province chooses a group of people who have made contributions to their communities.
Cathy Benton, from Bridgewater, has spent much of her 21 year career working with Mi’kmaq organizations.
“I can understand where they’re coming from,” she says. “Having been through that system, I can offer them guidance about where they can turn to get other assistance.”
She says she’s honoured to be chosen.
Eight of the other appointees are from the HRM, with one other from Yarmouth.
