Video – Bridgewater Receives Windfall Of Infrastructure Money

Bridgewater will receive over $1.6 million dollars to improve water and wastewater infrastructure.

This on the heels of last weeks announcement of $119 million of federal money being matched by the province and municipalities for a total of $238 million dollars for infrastructure projects in Nova Scotia.

And MP Bernadette Jordan says there’s more to come.

“This is one of the best parts of my job. You know it’s not just Bridgewater. We have $9 million dollars worth of announcements from the federal government alone that will roll out over the next few weeks in different areas throughout South Shore St. Margaret’s”

Mayor David Walker says the funding means some projects will start sooner than expected.

“What this is allowing us to do is to fast track a lot of things. And I think there’s a challenge now for staff to take our five-year capitol plan and say oh my god, what does this mean for it.”

The funding will go to three priority projects: upgrades to the King St. Water System, Wastewater treatment plant upgrades and developing a sanitary storm water master plan.
