Survey Sparks Conversation About Fire Prevention

This has been one of the most active forest fire seasons Nova Scotia has seen in decades.

The Department of Natural Resources has had some form of fire restriction in place for most of the summer.

Still, some people don’t seem to be getting the message.

Prevention Officer Kara McCurdy says that’s why agencies across the country are teaming up to put out a survey.

“What they’re interested in learning is what the people’s understanding of wildfire prevention programs is and how the fire prevention message can be improved.”

McCurdy says in Nova Scotia 99% of wildfires are caused by humans.

The survey is open until September 1.
