After 25 years serving the Town of Bridgewater in municipal politics, David Walker’s time in politics is coming to a close.
Walker lost in Saturday’s municipal election by 388 votes to former councillor David Mitchell.
The current mayor says he’s proud of the relationships he created during his time on council.
However, he’s not sure what’s next.
“When the new year comes we’ll look at what’s next in store for David Walker. I’m sure it will be exciting and rewarding as the past 25 years have been.”
Walker was first elected in 1988 but lost in 1992 before he was re-elected for consecutive terms.
“I don’t think there is anything that doesn’t have its down days but when I look back at my time in municipal politics, the pluses way outweigh the negatives and I’m grateful for the opportunities that have been presented to me.”
He says he’s disappointed that he will not have a second term as mayor but wishes the new council the best over the next four years.
