With cannabis legalization rolling out tomorrow morning, the RCMP is reminding people to transport their pot properly.
Like alcohol, cannabis should be kept away from the reach of the driver or passengers.
Corporal Dal Hutchinson, media relations for the RCMP, says drivers should use their common sense.
“If you are driving a vehicle, say a minivan, or a half ton truck, that doesn’t have a trunk compartment, put it in the very back, just the same you would for alcohol.”
Hutchinson says if you’re pulled over with pot in your cupholder or passenger seat, even if it’s sealed, you’ll be fined under the Nova Scotia Cannabis Control Act.
Rules surrounding transportation vary province to province but Hutchinson says if you want to be safe, keep it in the trunk or very back of the vehicle.
