Decision On Barn Demolition Postponed Until Next Week

The fate of the Anderson Barn won’t be known until next week.

Lunenburg Town Council put off the decision after hearing from the public at last night’s meeting.

It was a full house for the final public consultations on the fate of the barn.

Several people spoke in support and against demolition of the barn and council has received numerous letters from the public on the subject.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says council wants time to reflect on all opinions and information they’ve gathered.

“We need to be very careful in our consideration and basically there are a lot of boxes we have to make sure we check.”

Bailey says council will consider everything they have after Lunenburg Heritage Homes provided more financials at last night’s council meeting.

“We do feel that we’ve gathered the information that we’re required to gather. And we just have to make a decision based on the evidence we have at hand.”

Council will present its decision on the application at a special meeting this Wednesday, October 5th.
