Wildfire Season Extended

People hoping to burn brush or roast marshmallows will need to keep their eye on the DNR website a little longer.

Burn restrictions are posted every afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Department of Natural Resources is extending the wild fire season until October 22nd.

Minister Lloyd Hines says the drought in South West Nova Scotia means the risk of wildfire is still high.

He says some parks will also remain open to help fill the need for water.

“We have the capacity in our department to off this support to our people, and we really feel it’s our duty to do that.”

Parks will remain open until the 27th.

The extension is expected to cost around $200,000
