Canadian Sledge Hockey Team Hosting Camp In Bridgewater

Canada’s National Sledge Hockey team is returning to Bridgewater.

Hockey Canada has announced the team will host a high performance camp at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre from November 10-16.

General Manager, Kevin Benjamin, says he looks forward to their return.

“They’re going to be here at the LCLC on the ice for two ice sessions a day going through their preparation leading up to the Sledge Challenge in December.”

The camp is ahead of the 2016 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, scheduled for December 4-10 in Charlottetown, PEI.

He says the ice slots will be an hour and a half from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m and again from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. and will only causing a minor schedule adjustment for regular users of the arena.

The Canadian team’s return to Bridgewater is part of the legacy the community has built since hosting the World Sledge Hockey Challenge last January.

This year’s team features a mix of young and veteran players including Billy Bridges and Captain Greg Westlake, who both suited-up in Bridgewater last January during the World Sledge Hockey Challenge.

Benjamin says the camp is open to the public.
