Alternate Shower Facilities Available as Provincial Parks Close

The province says new locations are providing shower facilities for people whose wells have gone dry.

Provincial parks that have been open to accessing potable water and showers will close at 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre in Bridgewater is listed as a new location.

But, General Manager Kevin Benjamin says they’ve been helping people for at least a month and a half.

“We haven’t been overwhelmed by any stretch of the imagination but it’s been a steady uptake and people have been utilizing the facility to shower.”

Benjamin says showers are available from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. by request using guest services at the facility.

Showers are also available at Shelburne High School and Lockeport High School on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Potable water will continue to be available in the Municipality of the District of Shelburne, but starting October 31, residents must call the municipal office to arrange for pick up Wednesday nights in Shelburne and Thursday nights in Lockeport.
