MLAs Recap Summer And Look Ahead To Fall Session

As MLAs prepare to head back to the legislature this week we took the opportunity to catch up with Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey.

Furey says he was focused on encouraging people in his constituency to take a stay-cation this year.

“Get to know our own communities and the assets we have. I saw a lot of that this summer. A lot of residents who have taken advantage of our beaches, the arts and culture community that we have.”

Looking ahead to the fall session, Furey says he will continue working to align all departments with government’s agenda.

“And those priorities are coming from discussions we have everyday. Both at the community level and my role both at Treasury Board and in the departments that I am responsible for.”

Lunenburg MLA Suzanne Lohnes-Croft also got us up to speed on what she’s been doing this summer and what is ahead for the fall session.

Lohnes-Croft says when she wasn’t fielding calls about dry dusty roads and working on the public accounts committee, she was taking in as many community events as she could.

“Being in the Lunenburg constituency is one that never stops – and I love it too. Because there are so many events and little fairs going on in Lunenburg County.”

Lohnes-Croft says this fall she will continue to meet the challenges of the public accounts committee.

“And sometimes it’s not always the money part but how things are functioning within a department. How even people are used, how technology is used – is it being used properly, efficiently.”

MLA’s will be back to the legislature on October 13th.
