Four months after it was published, the provincial government has finally released its response to the Lahey Report.
The report examined forestry practices in Nova Scotia and made recommendations around how they should change.
Lands and Forestry Minister Iain Rankin says the department will move to the triad model of ecological forestry.
That includes conservation areas, high-production forest areas and a combination of the two.
The department will also undergo a peer review of its current approach to mapping and methodology, to ensure it aligns with ecological
forestry practices.
Rainkin expects that peer review can be completed in 2019.
Government hasn’t provided clearcut reduction targets or a timeline for when the recommendations will be adopted.
