The only Nova Scotian around the federal cabinet table is relinquishing his seat.
Kings-Hants MP Scott Brison announced he is stepping down as President of the Treasury Board.
The 22-year Member of Parliament also says he will not be re-offering in October’s federal election in order to spend more time with his young family.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Trudeau calls Brison, “a tireless champion for the people of Nova Scotia and Canada,” and “One of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet in this business.”

Brison says he will work with the Prime Minister to ensure a smooth transition.
South Shore-St. Margaret’s MP Bernadette Jordan says she has great respect for Brison.
“He has always had an open-door policy with the Nova Scotia caucus. He’s been really, just, an all-around great guy and he has a wonderful sense of humour.”

Speculation now turns to which, if any, of Nova Scotia’s MPs will replace Brison in the Prime Minister’s Cabinet.
