Fire Fighters Flaunt Their Curling Skill in Bridgewater

Fire Fighters will soon be yelling hurry hard in Bridgewater.

The Nova Scotia Fire Fighters Curling Championship opens Thursday evening at the Bridgewater Curling Club.

Sixteen teams will be split into competitive and recreational divisions.

The Bridgewater team is skipped by Michael Nauss, who has won the event three times since 1988.

He feels it’s anyone’s tournament to win.

“It all depends on how things go when you get on the ice,” says Nauss. “This year I have a new team that I’m working with. We are still rated third or fourth in the area so you never know what can happen.”

Chad Stevens’ rink of Chester is also competing in the tournament.

Th Bridgewater Fire Department and Lunenburg Regional Fire and Emergency Services are co-hosting the event.

The first game will be held at 7:30 this evening with the championship scheduled for Sunday at 1pm.

The winner of the competitive division will represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian Fire Fighters Curling Championship from March 16-23 in Kelowna, B.C.
