Fatal Accident Shuts Down Highway 103

*updated 11:45 AM February 1*

Highway 103 has reopened between exits 12 and 13.

RCMP closed the highway just after 7:00 p.m last night following a fatal collision.

RCMP say a car was heading westbound when it crossed the line and collided head-on with an oncoming tractor trailer.

The lone occupant, a 38-year-old Bridgewater man was killed on impact.

Bridgewater fire department and EHS were on the scene as well as Bridgewater Police Service, to help with traffic control.

A collision analyst was attended most of the night to determine the cause.

RCMP Sergeant Mark MacPherson says the cold temperatures also affected the clean up.

“It was an extensive cleanup by Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal and our other partners to make sure the highway was safe again to open up to the public.”

The RCMP extend their thoughts to the families and friends of the victims.
