Province Purchasing 12 P3 Schools From Scotia Learning Centres

The Nova Scotia government has announced it will buy 12 P3 schools.

The schools will be purchased for $85.9 million from Scotia Learning Centres.

Nine are within the Halifax Regional School Board, one is in the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board, and two are in the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial.

The province needs to give four years notice before the leases expire if they plan to buy or continue to lease the schools when the leases are up in 2020.

Of the 39 P3 schools in the province, two are in the South Shore.

The province needs to make a decision on Aspotogan Consolidated Elementary School by the end of this month as its lease is up November 30, 2020.

A decision on Bayview Community School isn’t required until the end of October next year.

The South Shore Regional School Board has informed the province both schools are required to meet the community’s needs.
