VIDEO: School Board Elects New Chair

The South Shore Regional School Board is shaking things up.

Jennifer Naugler, who has served three terms as board chair has been replaced by Elliott Payzant.

This isn’t the first time Payzant has been at the helm, but he says it’s good to be back.

“It’s not a new position to me but it’s one that I think–I know–the position requires a lot of time and a lot of time and lot of effort and I think I’m prepared to give the time and effort that it needs.”

He says the next year will be one of transition that will require good communication with all stakeholders.

“Councillors, or mayors, or wardens, our teachers, and the public in general, our parents,” he says, ” I think we need to be hearing from all of those people, to hear what they want.”

Payzant, who represents District 1 in Queens County, has served on school board since 1994.

Theresa Griffin, who represents District 6 in the Chester-area, was chosen as vice chair.
