A popular run in Lunenburg is moving its typical race date.
The 5 kilometre Road Race and Muffin Run will be held May 19 after the Bluenose Marathon moved their event to June this year.
One of the organizers, Selena Davidson, says special circumstances caused the change.
“They’re going on the weekend we usually go because of the Memorial Cup in the city and we decided to take the long weekend in May.”
This is the 20th anniversary of the Muffin Run, a fundraiser for the West Nova Fuels Soccer Club.
“Which goes back into the fields with maintenance and makes sure that the kids don’t have to pay as much for registration,” says Davidson.
“It’s a win-win for everyone.”
The event usually attracts over 400 runners and walkers from across the province.
It will be an active weekend for some as a Savour and Cycle event will also be held May 18 in Mahone Bay.
The cycling tour between Mahone Bay and Lunenburg features rides of 25 kilometres to 100 kilometres and includes food from local restaurants and craft beer and spirits from local breweries.
Registration is underway for both events.
