Lumberjacks Hold 10 Picks in Saturday’s MHL Draft

The South Shore Junior ‘A’ Lumberjacks are preparing for their future.

The Bridgewater-based hockey club has 10 picks in this weekend’s Maritime Hockey League Draft in Edmundston, New Brunswick.

That includes the seventh overall pick.

They also have the 19th, 31st, 55th, 65th, 79th, 91st, 103rd, 108th and 115th selections.

Head Coach and General Manager, Kyle McAllister, says he plans to use some draft picks but won’t shy away from trade discussions.

“I definitely do want to use some draft picks and fill the cupboards up. At the same time, we like our chances this year and we like our team. We’re always going to be looking to spend some assets in order to bring in more experienced junior guys if the opportunity comes up.”

McAllister says the team plans to draft the best players available based on who scouts have identified regardless of the position they play.

The MHL draft begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Live updates will be available on the MHL website and through the MHL’s Twitter account.
