Roof Replacement, Gym Floor Refinishing Slated For Liverpool Regional High School

A project listed as a top priority by the South Shore Regional Centre for Education will be complete by the fall.

Major infrastructure upgrades at Liverpool Regional High School are needed including a roof replacement, gym floor refinishing and other site work.

Spokeswoman Chrissy Matheson with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development says the work has been approved at a cost of $625,000.

SSRCE Director of Operations, Brian Smith, says it is significant work to complete.

“Liverpool Regional has had some roof leaks that have been increasing over the past years and it’s to a point where it is absolutely essential that we get in and get that roof replaced.”

“When I say a complete replacement, that means the membrane on the roof. It doesn’t mean the actual roof will be taken off,” adds Smith.

The school, which has been open since 1990, has never had a full roof replacement.

Smith says work has been done over the years to maintain sections of it.

Construction will begin once school is out for summer break.
