Health Care Rally Organizer Not Deterred By Turnout

The organizer of the weekend health care protest in Halifax is already planning another event.

Leslie Tilly says about 100 people showed up Saturday June 15 but speakers, including physicians, said health care delivery in Nova Scotia is broken.

“it’s not what I expected but I’m wondering if now that they see what this rally was about, then possibly more people will be interested. It’s like Dr. AJ said ‘for every person that’s here, a thousand people are behind that person’.”

She says it’s not about numbers, it’s the message that needs to be heard, again and again until someone listens and acts.

“Never let up. Our next move will be very quickly. I’m not sure what we’ll do. Possibly we’ll go and hit Premier Stephen McNeil’s office and randy Delorey’s office. We don’t let up on the government, not for a second.”

Tilly says they’re not going away until change happens.

She launched the Facebook group Nova Scotia Health Care in Crisis which now has nearly 5 thousand members.
