Changes to MODL’s capital budget will see their new administration building project return to balance.
Savings of $107,000 were found in the new admin building project by removing the requirement for millwork certification and getting rid of a duplicate catch-basin.
And, Riverport School demolition was deferred until funding from other levels of government is approved; putting over a million dollars back on the table.
That will cover the $998,261 in budget overages for the new administration building.
Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says it was a necessary step to make.
“To make sure that they municipal building goes ahead on budget but also, we would not be proceeding with the Riverport school until we heard back from our application from the federal government,” says Bolivar-Getson.
“If we’re going to get federal or provincial dollars to assist with that, we definitely want to utilize those dollars and not the taxpayers dollars.”
The capital budget stays at $14.5-million.
The total cost of the new administration building is $8.7-million and will be located on Nathan Cirillo Road in Cookville.
