I don’t know about you, but I was a bit concerned today when I found out that Disney is going to remake Home Alone, a movie I’ve seen so many times that I’ve lost count.
But then it got me thinking about the most rewatchable movies and they kind of fall into different categories. Home Alone is now a holiday favourite along with It’s A Wonderful Life, Die Hard, Love Actually, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf and any of the Grinch films.
Then there are the sort of kids movies that adults like too – Princess Bride, The Goonies, the Toy Stories, E.T. , Finding Nemo and all the Disney animated classics.
And there are the musicals or simply films with great soundtracks – Grease, Dirty Dancing, The Sound of Music. The Wizard of Oz.
Finally, there are movies that just had great stories and performances that we just had to see again and again – F0rrest Gump, Pretty Woman, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Breakfast Club, The Godfather – this category has way too many to list.
What movie have I rewatched the most? If we leave out the first three categories and just go for the last one with the great stories – It’s gotta be Shawshank Redemption.
