My Weird Food Eating Confession

Ok, before I start I should tell you that many experts suggest relying on your food eating rituals too much can lead to an eating disorder, so if you have a lot of them (rituals) perhaps get a professional opinion. Honestly, I think mine are fairly minor but if you think I need to see a professional feel free to email me and suggest it!

First, I hate getting my hands sticky. I tend to eat chicken wings with a knife and fork. Or I order the “dry” dusted wings instead of the sticky sauce-coated ones. The women in this house gave me such a hard time about it that I have progressed to no more knife and fork. But I only use my left hand to eat the wings and try to keep the right hand as sticky-free as possible.

The same principle applies to chocolate bars – my favourite bars are Crunchie and Skor. I hate when the chocolate melts on my fingers while holding it, so to get around that, I put them in the freezer and smack them on the table top so they shatter into pieces and put them in a bowl. (BTW, it’s rare for me to have a chocolate bar)

Now, I don’t have a problem with food touching on the plate, but I do have a bit of a ritual at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter dinners. I eat the least favourite foods on my plate first and save my favourites for the end.

Finally , and please don’t judge me too harshly, I like my chip dip clumpy. By that I mean my secret shame is that I like to dip potato chips in…. cottage cheese. Should I make an appointment now?
