SSRCE Encourages Drivers To Be Safe As Students Return To School

There are a few things to remember as kids prepare to head back to school Thursday.

They include drivers being aware of students walking to bus stops and school, slowing down in school zones and never passing a school bus when its red lights are flashing.

Executive Director of the South Shore Regional Centre for Education, Paul Ash, says drivers need to be safe behind the wheel.

“I recognize that individuals may be a little anxious to get past a school bus, but that extra 30 seconds or so that it takes for them to yield to amber lights or actually stop when their lights are flashing red, it baffles me that individuals are still willing to take that risk.”

Ash says SSRCE holds a high standard when it comes to safely transporting students to and from school.
