Chapters Raising Funds For Bluenose Academy Library

Fundraising has begun to buy new books for Bluenose Academy.

Chapters in Bayers Lake is taking donations for the school over the next three weeks as part of Indigo’s ‘Adopt-A-School’ program, which raises money for schools to buy books at a discounted price.

Principal Steven McGill says the new books will help update the library and hopefully spark a little more interest in reading from the students.

“A lot of our books that ended up in our library were brought up from the older elementary schools, so a lot of them have been outdated,” he said.

“We do not have a budget per se to replenish our books, and this is allowing us to do that.”

McGill says the school often has to think outside the box to obtain new resources, so community initiatives like this are important to the school, and allow it to move forward in areas its budget doesn’t.

“We rely heavily on the support of all of our local communities and businesses and try to give back whenever we can as well,” he said.

“The more positive relationships we can make with local businesses, the better for sure.”

Chapters will be collecting funds until October 6th, and those interested can purchase books specifically for the school. A registry will be listed on their website.
