A group of students from Barrington Municipal High School will be among the volunteers helping out at a beach cleanup today.
It takes place from 11 to 3 at at the Crow Neck Beach Nature Reserve in East Baccaro.
Joanna Skomorowski of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust says they bought the beach originally then transferred ownership to the province.
“Because they can offer a higher level of protection than we can. This beach is critical as a nesting habitat for the Piping Plover which is very, very endangered. Crow Neck Beach is well beloved by those in the communities around it.”
The shoreline cleanup is a partnership of the Nova Scotia Nature Trust, the provincial departments of Environment and Lands and Forestry, Bird Studies Canada and the Municipality of Barrington.
