Regional Hospital Moving To Natural Gas

It’s a change which could result in saving millions of dollars each year. Seven regional hospitals in the province are making the move away from oil and over to natural gas. Health Minister Leo Glavine says burning natural gas is a cleaner option which will save money. He says those funds could be redirected back into patient care. The Nova Scotia government says planning to make the switch is underway. Some of the regional hospitals making the switch include Bridgewater, Yarmouth, Kentville, Halifax and Darmouth. The government is investing $9.7 million to help with costs.
