Today I learned that we’re supposed to “deep clean” our fridge every season, or four times a year! I’m not sure why I’m so surprised at that, considering it holds our food and food can spread mold and such, but it was the deep clean that got me. Not a wipe down, but a deep clean means removing everything, washing out the drawers and containers with hot water and detergent. This in addition to a daily “wipe down” using a cloth with warm water and some antibacterial cleaner.
If you have a built in water or ice dispenser turns out that thing has a filter that they recommend you change every six months.
And finally, the experts recommend that you have a weekly toss of any leftovers as you need to catch them before they turn moldy, as the mold can spread and cause allergic reactions.
Maybe I’m cleaning-impaired, but does anyone actually follow the four times a year deep cleaning of the fridge?
