Pizza was one of the first meals I learned to make as a young teenager. Not real pizza. No, I’m talking about the Kraft Pizza kit that just had the very basics. In fact, at the time I had no idea you could put extra things on the pizza besides what came in the kit. There was the dough mix, (just add water!) the tomato sauce, a packet of parmesan cheese and a tiny packet of spices.
After a couple of years of perfecting the Kraft Pizza kit on a Saturday night at home I started getting adventurous. Some grated cheese, a few hot dogs, eventually some hamburger and some chopped up onions. Heaven!
Nowadays, I’m very adventurous when it comes to pizza – I like donair pizza, Greek pizza, Hawaiian pizza, Meat lovers pizza, All-veggy pizza – I even like anchovies though they are a bit too salty at times.
I’ll never forget the first frozen pizza I brought home, preheated the oven, put that disc of deliciousness in, and then couldn’t figure out why the bottom was mushy and uncooked. I’d left the cardboard circle underneath. Only did that once!
Tell me your pizza memories! Any cooking fails? Find a topping you really didn’t like?
