A Bridgewater heptathlete has ended her season on a high note. Rachael McIntosh finished with a pair of bronze medals at the Canadian Combined Events Championship and the Pan-American Combined Events Cup. Both meets were held in Ottawa and it was McIntosh’s first ever international medal. The 23-year-old says it’s a significant accomplishment. “It hasn’t really sunk in yet, you know, it’s one of those things I think about in a little while and be like ‘Wow, that happened.’ It was really exciting to get my first international medal and be on the podium with my Team Canada uniform on.” McIntosh only competed in four meets this year but wanted to focus on working full-time for the summer. She says once the summer is over, it’s back to training and preparing to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
