More and more places seem to be trying to get us to eat our veggies. Everyone seems to be in a hurry to put out some kind of “I can’t believe it’s not meat!”
I don’t have a problem with this. Except for the trying to disguise it as meat.
Again, I have no issue with the “veggie option”. But why do they have to pretend to be something else?
I like eating vegetable. Many are very tasty. I’ll admit, it has taken me a while, but I do realize I don’t need meat to survive. I like meat now and then. I have nothing against it, for the most part. But balance and moderation seem to be good things in life.
But it seems like everyone is rushing to be part of the meatless meat trend. It’s not really meat, but it tastes just like meat. You’ll never know the difference.
The question I have is, what did they do to it to make it so I can’t tell the difference? That’s the part that bothers me. If plants were supposed to taste like meat, they would probably grow that way. And most times when we try to change things, supposedly for the better, in the long run, it doesn’t seem to turn out that way. What will we discover in a couple decades that will make this all seem like a bad idea?
That’s the part that bothers me. I’ll eat my veggies and be happy about it. I don’t have to try to fool myself into thinking it’s meat.
