Province Implements Support Line For Forestry Workers In Need

The province is attempting to make more movement on their support of forestry sector workers in need.

Government announced a new support line Tuesday for forestry workers affected by the Northern Pulp announcement who are in need of emotional support.

They are partnering with Morneau Shepell to deliver the public service, which aims to help them deal with any trauma or stress through professional counselling and community resource referrals.

Premier Stephen McNeil says “The impact of this situation reaches beyond those directly employed in the forestry sector and it’s vitally important that support is available to all those who need it”

The implementation of the line, as well as new employment sessions throughout the province, come after the announcement of Northern Pulp’s pending closure.

Those in need of emotional support can call the support line at 1-866-885-6540. It is open to the public 24/7.
